The Fundación Tres Culturas del Mediterráneo is honoured to collaborate with the University of Seville in the events to commemorate the 5th centenary of the birth of Luis de Camoens, which will take place on 13 and 14 November 2024. This tribute to the distinguished Portuguese writer and poet, in which the Portuguese Consulate and the Lusophone Cultural Centre will also participate, will consist of a series of lectures by some of the most renowned specialists in the field, as well as recitations of poems and a concert.
The academic programme will include lectures explaining the life and work of Camoens, focusing on his themes, his poetics and his influence on humanism. The managing director of our Foundation, Lorena García de Izarra, will participate in the inaugural session of this programme at the Faculty of Philology on 13 November.
The collaboration of Tres Culturas in this commemoration will take place on 14 November at the Portuguese Consulate with the participation of Professor Annabela Rita, president of the Academia Lusófona Luís de Camões of the Sociedade Histórica da Independência de Portugal, as well as university professor at the Faculdade de Letras of the Universidade de Lisboa). Her talk, entitled 'Camões Global', aims to explain how Camoens emerges in literature with a global and globalising dimension, uniting cultures, knowledge, disciplines and genres. The session will be moderated by Paula Pires Feliciano, from the University of Seville.
The session will take place on Thursday 14 November 2024 at 19:00h at the Consulate General of Portugal in Seville.
