The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation joins the celebrations of 60 years of bilateral cooperation between Spain and Tunisia in 2017, through the opening of the exhibition: Tunisia. Art and Citizenship'.

During 2016, the Fundación Tres Culturas participated as a partner in a project promoted by Tunisian civil society through the Association Caravanes d'Espoir El Guattar in the region of Médenine, Tunisia, under the title '.Art and Citizenship'. Other partners from Morocco: FOMEJE (Forum Méditerranée des Jeunes) and Bulgaria: Alternativi International participated in this project. The actions were developed in the framework of the European programme EuroMed Youth IV Tunisia, which allowed the financing of the activities.

The project favoured the mobility of young people from different countries and its incursion into a programme of activities related to citizen participation, contact with Tunisian associations and NGOs, which after the 2011 Revolution are very present in society, visits to schools working with students, discovery of Tunisian tradition and history through museums, and in short direct contact with Tunisian citizens, customs and the different landscapes that make up a country that has seen a profound decrease in one of its main sources of income: tourism.

Participants were grouped into four workshops each of them coordinated by the different project partners and related to different work themes: Art, Journalism, Audiovisual Media and Theatre. Joint activities were carried out, but space was also set aside for the development of individual projects and more personalised implementation.

The exhibition shows a selection of the work carried out by the various participants Spaniards: Juan Luis Rod, Laura Pintado, Jeyce2, María Rodríguez, Catalina Bejarano, together with Raouf Lakhdahar and Ilyes Kotrsi from Tunisia and Georgi Kasapov from Bulgaria. The works represent the personal vision of each of them about the experience, the elements and images that most caught their attention and their impressions of a country that has experienced one of the biggest changes in the Arab world, after the beginning of what was called the Jasmine Revolution in 2011.

The opening of this exhibition will take place on Sunday, 29 January 2017 in the framework of the activities of the st programmeart'17.
