As usual, on the last Thursday of each month we have an appointment with the Cátedra Al-Ándalus, this time by Griselda Baza Álvarez, Doctor in History and Anthropology from the University of Granada. She will talk about music, mysticism and dance in the Maghrib and the Mashriq. A study of the different musical traditions and the spaces where they are developed, bringing us closer to the sacred sphere and the mystical path of Islam. Doctor Griselda Baza will analyse her fieldwork in Fez, an artistic, cultural and also intellectual scenario where mysticism and great spiritual personalities have met. The _tasawwuf_ will take us to different physical and spiritual dwellings where the conception of the body and music is influenced by the environment and the musical genre performed.
Griselda Baza Álvarez PhD in History and Anthropology from the University of Granada. Master's degree in Arab and Hebrew Cultures: past and present. Degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the UGR.
