The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation will participate in the EuroMed Civil Society Conference, to be held on 26-27 October 2024 at the Maritime Museum of Barcelona. Organised by the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed) with the support of the European Union, the conference will be held under the slogan "Reclaiming Our Shared Humanity", with the aim of counteracting polarisation, dehumanisation and radicalisation in the Euro-Mediterranean region, exacerbated by the conflict in the Middle East.
The Fundación Tres Culturas, with 25 years of experience, has been a benchmark in the active promotion of intercultural dialogue and cooperation between the two shores of the Mediterranean. Its participation in this conference reaffirms its commitment to building a space for coexistence and mutual understanding, in a context marked by growing social polarisation. In this sense, the Foundation acts as a bridge between cultures, facilitating the meeting and exchange of ideas between the different actors of civil society.
During the event, the Three Cultures Foundation will bring its expertise in creating initiatives that foster respect and dignity for all communities. The Foundation will advocate the importance of addressing current challenges through intercultural dialogue, promoting mutual understanding as a key to regional stability and lasting peace.
The commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the Fundación Tres Culturas coincides with this important event in Barcelona, which adds special significance to its participation. Since its creation in 1998, the Foundation has worked tirelessly to consolidate its role as a meeting place that fosters collaboration between public, private and civil society entities, with the aim of overcoming prejudices and building a culture of peace. This accumulated experience will be reflected in the sessions of the EuroMed Civil Society Conference, where the importance of social inclusion and the prevention of inter-community hatred will be debated.
The conference will bring together more than 200 civil society representatives from across the Euro-Mediterranean region to discuss how the conflict in the Middle East has fuelled extremist narratives and hostility towards diverse communities. In this context, the Three Cultures Foundation will play a key role in generating proposals to promote inclusive narratives and defuse hate speech.
With the celebration of its 25th anniversary, the Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation reaffirms its commitment to the mission that has guided it since its creation: to be a driving force for dialogue and understanding in a Mediterranean that today, more than ever, needs voices that are committed to peace and coexistence.
