In 2005 Spain established the Official Day of Remembrance of the Holocaust and the Prevention of Crimes against Humanity, in line with the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly, which proclaimed 27 January as the International Day of Commemoration of the Holocaust. The date of 27 January was chosen by the United Nations in remembrance of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp on the same day in 1945.
For yet another year, the Fundación Tres Culturas is hosting this event at its headquarters, organised in collaboration with the Centro Sefarad-Israel, in which a candle-lighting ceremony will be held to remember all the victims of the Holocaust. The Seville Chamber Orchestra will provide the musical accompaniment for the event.
This activity is subsidised by the Junta de Andalucía, within the framework of the subsidy granted by the Consejería de la Presidencia, Interior, Diálogo Social y Simplificación Administrativa (Regional Ministry of the Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue and Administrative Simplification).
