At the Fundación Tres Culturas we firmly believe that knowledge is the best tool for building a more plural, respectful of differences, tolerant, supportive and just society. That is why we dedicate Tuesdays in June to exploring the many ways of inhabiting the world: diverse cultures, silenced historical facts, distant sounds, deep beliefs and different views on life.

THE GREAT GYPSY ROUND-UP: HISTORY OF A GENOCIDE
Pilar Távora | Spain | 2025 | 85 min.
Synopsis: One of the most serious attempts to exterminate the Roma people in Spain was the so-called "General Prison of Gypsies". After several centuries of attempts to control and subjugate their population without obtaining the expected result, in 1749, Ferdinand VI, with the Marquis of Ensenada and the close collaboration of the clergy, set in motion an operation like never before against the Gypsy people in which thousands of men, women, boys and girls were separated and sentenced to punishments aimed at their extinction; a persecution without precedent in the history of Spain that is still hidden in the history books.
