Film screening The most precious commodity and conference 'From Memory to Civic Conscience: Holocaust, Critical Thinking and the Active Defense of Human Dignity'.by Miguel Ángel Ballesteros Moscosio.
In 2005 Spain established the Official Day of Remembrance of the Holocaust and the Prevention of Crimes against Humanity, in line with the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly, which proclaimed 27 January as the annual International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Holocaust. The date of 27 January was chosen by the United Nations in remembrance of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp on the same day in 1945.
The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation is once again taking part in the commemoration of the Official Day of Remembrance of the Holocaust and the Prevention of Crimes against Humanity by organising a ceremony to remember the victims, as well as an educational activity.
On this occasion, the educational activity is aimed at raising awareness of the significance, historical context and repercussions of the Holocaust among young people. For this purpose, we have prepared a double programme consisting of the screening of the film The most precious commodity by the director Michel Hazanavicius, which will be followed by the conference From Memory to Civic Conscience: Holocaust, Critical Thinking and the Active Defense of Human Dignity'.', in charge of Miguel Ángel Ballesteros MoscosioProfessor at the Faculty of Education Sciences of the University of Seville, followed by a debate.
The activity is aimed at students in the 4th year of ESO, as well as in the 1st and 2nd years of Bachillerato and higher courses of Vocational Training. The aim is to promote the values of respect and equality towards those we might consider different, as well as the prevention of hate crimes among students.
About The most precious commodity
Directed by award-winning director Michel Hazanavicius, the film uses animation to narrate the horrors of war, specifically the Nazi Holocaust.
Synopsis: During World War II, a Jewish family is deported to Auschwitz. On the train to the concentration camp, in a desperate gesture, the father throws one of his daughters into the snow, where she is rescued by a humble lumberjack couple. By adopting the "most precious commodity", their lives - and the lives of those around them - are changed forever.
