We live in an age in which confrontation and the exacerbation of particularisms provoke continuous conflicts and situations of marginalisation and social exclusion at a global level, which immigrants suffer most of all. From the tragedies at Ground Zero in New York, the attacks in Madrid, Casablanca, London and Paris, through the messianic announcement of a clash of civilisations, to the civil war in Syria and the latest episode of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict this summer, the international situation continues to deteriorate on the basis of a regression of values that will bring nothing but bad times for the international community.
Faced with this situation, the Fundación Tres Culturas and the Ministry of Moroccans Living Abroad and Migration Affairs want to strengthen the Andalusian/Moroccan partnership that 15 years ago was the basis for the creation of the Foundation. With the intention of continuing with our roadmap, which has always been marked by sharing and adding to avoid dividing and subtracting, we propose this informal, committed, dynamic and up-to-date colloquium that will bring together young immigrants, artists, academics and leading figures in intercultural dialogue, who will help us to find answers to many of the questions we all ask ourselves today and which continue to feed the particularisms, exacerbations and extremisms we spoke of at the beginning.
Experts from both shores of the Mediterranean will offer us their experiences, their wisdom, their art, their know-how and their commitment, starting with the Mediterranean, to try to achieve a world that looks more towards reconciliation and hope than towards confrontation in order to achieve a common and better future for our children.
After the colloquium, the photographic and audiovisual exhibition will be presented. Seeds of the new Moroccowhich will remain at the Tres Culturas headquarters from 29 September to 10 October 2014. This exhibition allows the visitor to retrace the lives of several young Moroccans who once moved to Andalusia to continue their academic training. Their stories represent the effort, personal and professional capacity and a lifestyle not very different from that of many citizens of our country, presenting a young, dynamic and committed Moroccan society.
Through the images and texts that make up the audiovisual exhibition, their motivations and aspirations are presented, as well as the nostalgia of being far from home. The journey through the daily lives of these people does not forget to look at their home in Morocco, also bringing us closer to their origins; a counterpoint that aims to bring us closer to the reality that these young migrants are trying to improve.
