Cervantes Institute in Tangier.
28 and 29 November 2013
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the signing, in January 1988, of the Spanish-Moroccan Cooperation Protocol on Archaeology and Heritage. Concluded by the Ministries of Culture of both countries, this text established a legal framework that allowed the presence of Spanish archaeology in Morocco to resume, having been interrupted with the end of the Protectorate and the cessation of the commendable activity of Miquel Tarradell three decades earlier.
Since then, we have witnessed the development of a good number of bilateral archaeological cooperation programmes which, promoted and funded by various Moroccan and Spanish bodies, have targeted various regions of Moroccan territory.
Coinciding with the presentation in Tangier of the exhibition organised to commemorate these 25 years of bilateral cooperation, this lecture series aims to bring together in this city the researchers responsible for the projects that have focused on various sites and archaeological areas of the Tingitana Peninsula. Its objective is to present and disseminate the work carried out among the interested public.
