The exhibition opens on 20 November at 12 noon at the CICUS, where it will run until 20 December. In addition, there is a meeting with Hajar Moussa and the illustrators Jesús Merino and Gabriel Hernández, on 23 November at 13.30 at the CICUS.
The Fundación Tres Culturas, within the framework of the CREAMOS Project, joins the 14th Comic and Illustration Meeting of Seville, which takes place from 18 to 24 November in Seville. Specifically, Tres Culturas will organise an exhibition and a debate between creators, all of them illustration professionals.
The exhibition, entitled Rebecca and comprising 27 works by the Moroccan artist Hajar Moussa, including originals, will open on 20 November (12 noon) at the CICUS headquarters (Calle Madre de Dios), where it can be visited from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. until 20 December. In this artistic proposal, the author proposes a reflection on prostitution (in fact, Rebecca is the name of the main prostitute), the image of women and the particularity of the spaces with which her characters coexist. In terms of technique, it is worth highlighting the use of gold leaf, employing horizontal panels in the illustrations that do not change throughout the story, obviating the use of sandwiches while preserving the narrative of the novels.
Hajar Moussa studied comic illustration at the National Institute of Fine Arts in Tetouan and later received a Fulbright scholarship to do a master's degree in comic illustration at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia (USA). Since 2007 his work has been present in numerous meetings and workshops, including some such as Breakfast, Lunch and DinnerThe project was carried out in Mexico DF, and later in Amsterdam and Tetouan. He has participated in the PLEIN AIR project organised by the Fundación Tres Culturas in Tetouan and Coimbra. He has also collaborated with the Tetouan International Comic Festival on several occasions, offering graphic work and filming with renowned directors.
The artist will be present at the opening of the exhibition, as well as at the meeting between professional illustrators that has been organised on 23 November (at 1.30 p.m.) at the CICUS, where she will exchange impressions with Jesús Merino and Gabriel Hernández.
