The Fundación Tres Culturas resumes its reading club with the work 'Seres de ficción' by the Moroccan writer Mohamed Azzedine Tazi, within the framework of the Morocco in Spain project. Wednesday, 23 October, 19.30 h.
In an imaginary Moroccan city called Zarkana, the uncertain destiny of a group of fictional characters who choose to flee from the reality that traps them, from the telluric and maritime forces that grip them, is traced. From a kaleidoscopic and open vision, the author, despite the criticism of a narrator who intervenes to say that he finds no logic in the course of the novel, recounts the adventures of uncertain beings who seek to escape, except for Salah, who is trapped, almost until the last moment, in the nets of Zarkana.
Mohamed Azeddine Tazi (Fez, 1948), a prolific novelist, short story writer and literary critic, is an essential author on the Moroccan and Arab literary scene. Since 1966, when he published his first short story, Maullas like catshas continued to publish studies in literary criticism, short stories, including The windows (1996), which won him the Moroccan Book Prize in 1997, and, above all, novels, such as Ayyam al-Ramad (Days of ashes1992), which is considered one of the 105 best Arabic novels of the 20th century, Magarat (Caves, 1992), o Al–Jafafish (The bats2002), in addition to Kainat Muhtamala (Fictional beings, 2002). His complete works have been published by the Moroccan Ministry of Culture in 2005. Some of his works have been translated into Spanish, French and English. His literary production is characterised by an agile narrative pulse and, above all, by a lucid, critical and sceptical outlook that is embodied in a rich range of characters who suffer and question themselves and who are torn between attachment to their roots and the impulse towards the unknown.
