Yusuf likes to spend his afternoons telling stories to the children, in some corner of the square, or next to the old port, but always, where there are remains of the old Medina. Magical places where he tells the stories that, according to him, he saw with his own eyes, or that someone told him...
The Fundación Tres Culturas del Mediterráneo, in collaboration with the Ministry Delegate in Charge of Moroccans Living Abroad, and within the framework of the Alqantara 2017 programme, is organising this educational concert in which Sara Marina and Emilio Villalba present 'Al-Musiqa: tales and songs from Morocco'.
This is a performance in which, through musical instruments and puppets, old stories from the Maghreb are told as they have been traditionally told generation after generation: oral storytelling. Stories of repetition, games to learn rhythms and lots of music from Al-Andalus to Morocco, with historical instruments and Mediterranean folklore.
Sara Marina and Emilio Villalba are musicians specialised in the study, recovery and dissemination of historical music and instruments, mainly from the artistic period between the 8th and 16th centuries. They have published several recordings, including an original didactic work 'Música para Princesas, Dragones y Caballeros, música medieval para niños' (2015).
