The Seville School of Art, formerly the School of Applied Arts, is a training centre of great value for the craft sector in Seville and Andalusia in general. Its students prepare to become ceramists, potters, cabinetmakers, photographers, decorators, among others, and also to continue their training at the Faculty of Fine Arts. This group of students is of special interest for a project that focuses on entrepreneurship, as is the case of INTREPIDA. Many of these students, on finishing their studies, open their own workshops or join cooperatives. For this reason, the meeting with the ceramist and entrepreneur Chari Bolaños will serve to illustrate an experience that many of these students will go through once they have completed their formal training.

This meeting will take place on 9 March 2018, from 5.30 p.m., in the assembly hall of the School in the former Chile Pavilion of the 29th exhibition. The entrance hall will host an exhibition of pieces created by the ceramist on the same day.

About Chari Bolaños

After training in artistic ceramics, she joined the ceramists' cooperative 'Cerámica Terra Sociedad Cooperativa Andaluza', set up in 1995 in Seville. In 2000, she set out on her own as an entrepreneur under the trade name TERRA PILAS, based in Pilas (Seville). The company specialises in the personalised design and hand-painting of ceramics on different surfaces and in different formats, using quality dyes and clays. It offers its services to private individuals, town councils, religious brotherhoods and museums. Since 1995 he has collaborated with the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in the reproduction of objects that appear in still lifes from its collection. His most recent commissions include work for the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. More information at: http://www.ceramicaterrapilas.es/
