Admiral's Hall of the Reales Alcázares. Tuesday 26 March at 19.30 h.
On this occasion, the Cátedra Al-Andalus lecture series delves into the archaeological work carried out in recent years in Seville's Patio de Banderas. In the walls of the original enclosure and in houses no. 7 and 2 of this courtyard, new evidence has been uncovered regarding the construction process of the citadel, planned and begun during the Abbadid period. New excavations on the walls and in the first palace provide a building panorama that reveals both the initial intentions and the interruptions and changes in the layout that led to the great Almohad extension of the 12th century.
The conference will take place in the Salón del Almirante of the Reales Alcázares and will be given by Miguel Ángel Tabales Rodríguez. Doctor in Archaeology and full professor at the University of Seville, he is also the director of the journal Archaeology of Architecturepublished by the CSIC and member of different scientific commissions in the field of archaeology and heritage. He is responsible for various regional and national research projects on the Alcázar of Seville.
