As part of the ‘Alqantara: Bridges for Dialogue and Coexistence’ programme, and to mark the XX anniversary of this institution, we are developing an extensive programme of activities dedicated to Morocco and its culture throughout the month of November.
One of the most popular activities is the traditional caftan parade. Internationally renowned designers and rising fashion stars have paraded down the ramp of the Three Cultures Foundation in the various editions held.
Once again, the Foundation is hosting an exhibition of this traditional Arab party dress in its various styles. Modernity and classicism, fantasy, elegance, and femininity are blended in contemporary designs that offer a modern vision of the Moroccan woman without renouncing her origins.
Guest designers:
Bilal Azzouz
A young designer from Tetouan, hailing from a family of couturiers and with a great passion for fashion. His haute couture collections celebrate the artisanal work of the kaftan with hand embroidery in silk thread, Swarovski crystals, and trimmings. Without losing the authenticity of tradition, Bilal adapts his designs to current times, incorporating trousers among other innovations.
Hind Asselman
A Tetouan-based interior designer who fuses her two great passions: fashion and architecture. She chose a handmade fabric used by the peasants of northern Morocco, the mendil, as her inspiration, thus elevating it to the status of haute couture. She has dressed international artists such as the singer Souad Massi, the soprano Samira Kadiri, and the singer Hamid el Hadri. She has also participated in numerous festivals and was the winner of the designer competition for the MERE project promoted by the Three Cultures Foundation.
Juliette Paris
Juliette Paris is the artistic name of two women united by a passion for fashion, especially bridal wear. Born in the French capital, they settled in Morocco to develop their work. They will close the fashion show with a representation of the Moroccan wedding dress and its accessories.
