The consultancy service offered by Tres Culturas resolves almost a hundred questions raised by migrants on the state of alarm.

In the context of the state of confinement decreed by the government on 13 March, the Fundación Tres Culturas del Mediterráneo has continued its work through the project Three Cultures With YouThe programme focuses on offering quality content and activities through its website and its various social networks to help the public to spend these weeks in the best possible way.

One of the activities with the greatest projection and acceptance of this programme has been the consultancy service for immigrants on issues related to the state of alarm, aimed at resolving legal, labour and administrative doubts related to this exceptional situation.

A public service initiative for the immigrant population residing in Andalusia, which in recent weeks has registered and resolved the numerous questions raised by Moroccan citizens and other nationalities such as Algeria and various South American countries.

Lara Marco, lawyer and head of the legal department of Tres Culturas, and Paula Schmid, lawyer specialising in foreigners and professor of international public law, were responsible for this work.

Both have been responsible for answering the queries that have arrived daily through the various channels that have been set up for this purpose (in Spanish, Arabic, French and Italian) and which have been resolved in the live sessions on the Tres Culturas Facebook channel on 26 March, 2 and 8 April. In these three sessions, an average of 25 queries were resolved each day, with more than 16,400 views.

In addition, work has been carried out in coordination with the Spanish and Moroccan embassies to respond to specific cases that required their intervention.

Among the issues that raised the most doubts were undoubtedly those related to various labour law issues, especially dismissals resulting from the declaration of the State of Alarm and the ERTES provided for in Decree 8/2020 of 17 March, as well as the requirements for receiving unemployment benefits.

Other recurrent topics have been those related to administrative procedures and the telematic completion of procedures or information on obtaining documentation, such as the processing of aliens' files, renewals and delegations of permits, etc.

Several queries regarding Moroccan university students who did not know how to proceed with regard to confinement or the doubts of some businessmen interested in transferring business from Morocco to Spain have also been resolved.
