As every year since 2017, the Fundación Tres Culturas joins in the celebration of Ramadan, the holy month for millions of Muslims around the world, through a series of activities dedicated to this festival. On this occasion we are forced to do it in a different way than in previous editions, due to the health crisis caused by COVID-19.
In this context, and within the framework of the activities of the Three Cultures With You programme, the Foundation offers the conference 'Ramadan and the night of destiny in the history of al-Andalus' given by the historian Professor Dr. Ahmed Tahiri, professor of Medieval History (Al-Maghreb and al-Andalus).
This paper sets out toe emphasised the importance of fasting as a spiritual practice inherited from the ancient Mediterranean civilisations and embodied in the three monotheistic books, highlighting the cultural impact of Ramadan in al-Andalus, where all the cult communities celebrated the Night of Destiny together, as well as the other religious festivals, as a sign of belonging to a plural and open society.
The conference will be available on Friday from 7 p.m. on this link.
