The Fundación Tres Culturas presents, on Thursday 17 December at 12 noon, the two most recent works in the collection Open spaces, by the editor Pedro Tabernero.

The collection Open Spaces proposes unique places because of their geographical location, their culture, their history. Places where illustration and painting are formulated as a game of reflections of reality with the spectator, provoking unprecedented experiences. New suggestions for invention, where everything moves in circular structures.

The book in this collection dedicated to Tangiers, with texts by Eduardo Jordá and Rocío Rojas-Marcos, and seventy paintings by Roberto Sánchez Terreros, is an unpublished work that adds a degree of novelty to existing editions.

The images exude a new understanding of the scenarios described, with a conciliatory tone and a contemporary sensibility that seduces. They are alternative visions of what was once the frontier of the known world, where different cultures have left their mark over time, in the passage of our consciousness through eternity.

The edition dedicated to the Alhambra, with texts by Rafael López Guzmán, Aurora Luque and Rafael Manzano and sixty paintings by Alfredo González, National Illustration Prize 2017, is a work that provides a modern vision of the Alhambra through evocative and attractive images, promoting a cultural, historical and touristic vision of this representative ensemble of the city of Granada.

To the question of why and for what purpose illustrate a book, the publisher Pedro Tabernero himself answers:

Perhaps the answer lies in the picture books themselves, in that magical halo they have which, in my opinion, makes the narrative more suggestive. The good illustrator, the true artist, manages to turn the image he captures or interprets from his own reading into an archetype, an icon; that is to say, into an image of the character and his world that all or most readers recognise.

The presentation will be given by Eduardo Jordá, Rafael Manzano, Rocío Rojas-Marcos and Pedro Tabernero.

Places to attend in person are limited, so it is essential to register in advance at THIS LINK.
