The Fundación Tres Culturas participated in the International Tourism Fair FITUR with its project 'Halal Market: resilience of markets in the face of new tourism trends', co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Interreg V-A Spain-Portugal Programme (POCTEP) 2014-2020. In addition, thanks to this project, four Andalusian companies were at the Fair presenting their products and services: Plata Cordobesa, Patios de San Basilio, Córdoba Luxury Experience and Lawran de Arabia.
The technical manager of the project, Germinal Gil, presented to the press accredited at FITUR the main lines of action of this project, whose objective is to generate competitive advantages for the products and services of companies in Andalusia and Baixo Alentejo, by adapting them to the criteria defined as Muslim friendlyThis has led to an increase in exports.
In addition, this intervention served to break down stereotypes and clarify concepts regarding tourism of Muslim origin, such as where it comes from, since this type of tourist does not only come from the Middle East, but many of them come from Southeast Asia, as well as European countries such as France, Great Britain, Germany and Spain itself. Similarly, this project focuses on aspects such as defining what exactly a halal product or service is, how certification is achieved and how companies can open up to this niche market without it being difficult or costly.
To this end, this programme (which ends in April 2022) includes numerous actions, such as business forums, webinars, presence at international trade fairs (such as FITUR and last March the ITB in Berlin) and the development of a platform to promote the sale of products online and the development of B2B halal services., among other activities.
This project is led by the Fundación Tres Culturas and has the following partners: Mercacórdoba (Mercados Centrales de Abastecimiento de Córdoba) and two others from Alentejo, CIMBAL (Comunidade Intermunicipal do Baixo Alentejo), and NERBE/AEBAL (Associação Empresarial do Baixo Alentejo e Litoral).
This activity is part of the project 'Halal Market: resilience of markets to new tourism trends', co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Interreg V-A Spain-Portugal Programme (POCTEP) 2014-2020.
