The director of the Fundación Tres Culturas del Mediterráneo, Concha de Santa Ana, and Juan Antonio Barrionuevo Fernández, deputy mayor for Youth and Development Cooperation of the Seville City Council, today signed a collaboration agreement for the implementation of a series of activities within the framework of the project 'Seville, land of diversity'.
The aim of this agreement is to "generate spaces for intercultural coexistence in the city of Seville through the development of the cultural and artistic expressions of the neighbouring peoples of the Southern Mediterranean". In this way, the Fundación Tres Culturas and the Consistory of Seville are committed to developing joint actions such as the film cycles that will be programmed in September and November, dedicated to Sephardic culture and Morocco, respectively.
It is also envisaged that concerts will be held to reinforce Sevillian citizens' knowledge of Mediterranean musical rhythms, including klezmer music, Andalusian music, popular chaabi music and the mystical music of the Turkish dervishes.
The agreement also refers to other important lines of action of this Foundation, such as children's activities or the Pasaporte Tres Culturas, an exchange and training programme for young people that promotes the values of interculturality.
With all of this, the Fundación Tres Culturas and the Seville City Council, which is contributing 25,000 euros to the promotion of these activities, aim to join forces to eliminate stereotypes and clichés associated with the different cultures that coexist in Seville, giving value to the richness that diversity brings to our society.
