The Fundación Tres Culturas offers a sample of the most current Andalusian cinema in its Tuesday Cinema programme in February.
In the current Andalusian film scene, there is a dialogue between the avant-garde and tradition. An example of this is the 'Andalusian Panorama' section of the Seville Festival, which offered ten feature films and eighteen short films in its latest edition. These works have won multiple awards and critical acclaim and show the need of our filmmakers to tell the story of the different realities of and from Andalusia.
Tuesday, 1st February, 8:30 p.m.
The daughter. Manuel Martín Cuenca. Spain, 2021, 122 min.
Irene is fifteen and lives in a centre for young offenders. She has just become pregnant and is determined to turn her life around thanks to Javier, one of the centre's educators. Javier offers her to live with him and his wife Adela in the house they own in an isolated and rugged spot in the mountains so she can bring her pregnancy to term. The only condition in return is that she agrees to give them the baby she is carrying inside her. This fragile pact may be compromised when Irene begins to feel the life growing within her as her own.
Presentation of the cycle by Lourdes Palacios, president of ASECAN.
Invitations at THIS LINK from 12 noon on Wednesday 26 January.
Activity carried out with the funding of the Seville City Council within the framework of the programme Seville, land of diversity.
