The Fundación Tres Culturas offers a sample of the most current Andalusian cinema in its Tuesday Cinema programme in February.

In the current Andalusian film scene, there is a dialogue between the avant-garde and tradition. An example of this is the 'Andalusian Panorama' section of the Seville Festival, which offered ten feature films and eighteen short films in its latest edition. These works have won multiple awards and critical acclaim and show the need of our filmmakers to tell the story of the different realities of and from Andalusia.

Tuesday, 8 February, 20.30 h.

Archaeology of the jondo. We. José Antonio Torres. Spain, 2021, 45 min.

This is a documentary about the Andalusian, Moorish, Sephardic, gypsy, black and American roots of flamenco. The spring from which entire generations have drunk, singing of pain and the sacred, in Andalusian and from memory. It is also the history of the people who guarded it in their songs, music and dances. Antonio Manuel is the narrator of the series, in dialogue with experts and artists. The performances represent the sound, gestural and visual suture of a story staged in the flamenco palos and in a story that takes place in emblematic historical spaces, such as the Mosque of Almonaster la Real, the Peñas Flamencas, Andalusian villages and some natural spaces. The voice-over is provided by the renowned flamenco singer Rocío Márquez.

Presentation of the series by its director, José Antonio Torres, the flamenco singer Rocío Márquez and the writer Antonio Manuel Rodríguez. At the end of the screening there will be a discussion with the audience.
