The Fundación Tres Culturas is once again collaborating with the UNIA in the organisation of summer courses. In this 2016 edition, we include highly topical subjects, which will analyse, among others, various geopolitical variables of special interest, as is the case of this course on the Sahel directed by Miguel Ángel Ballesteros Martín, Director of the Spanish Institute of Strategic Studies.
This course aims to provide a multidisciplinary approach to security in the Sahel and its environment, analysing the multiple risks and threats, as well as certain variables shared by the countries that make up the area and those located further north -Maghreb, Spain and Europe-.
Spain has been committed to the Sahel region for years, both politically and in terms of security and development; likewise, this area receives specific attention from the European Union, as reflected in the missions established in the area. In light of the events that can be seen daily in the national and international press, from immigration from the Sahel to the spread of jihadism, this meeting is highly relevant and highly topical.
