María Rubio Chaves is an Arabist by training and vocation. Her work has developed aspects related to literature and especially the culture of the Maghreb, reinforced by a master's degree in Cultural Management. Her first research work was fully focused on contemporary Moroccan literature in the Spanish language, with stays in different cities in Morocco, especially in the north of this country. Through teaching Spanish as a foreign language in Morocco and Tunisia, she has come into contact with Maghrebi society and its citizens, which has greatly contributed to and enriched her research projects. She witnessed the beginning and development of the Jasmine Revolution in Tunisia in 2011 while working and researching in the capital of Tunisia. The force of this event had a powerful impact on his vision of Tunisian society and the Maghreb in general, which led him to begin a thesis entitled: "The Tunisian Revolution through cinematography 2011-2014", which he is currently working on in collaboration with the Department of Contemporary History at the University of Cadiz.
