As part of the tribute to the figure of Vincenzo Consolo, the Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation will present ‘Conversation in Seville’ on Tuesday 28th of April at 19.30 h. The book has been edited by Miguel Ángel Cuevas, poet and professor at the University of Seville.
‘Conversation in Seville’ -a book which inevitably reminds us of ‘Conversations in Sicily’ by Elio Vittorini- collects some interviews and interventions held in several forums in Seville in 2004, when the University of Seville paid tribute to the writer coinciding with his ‘70th + 1’ birthday (the events had been planned for his 70th birthday but were postponed until the following year due to budgetary constraints). The book -of just 67 pages- is the perfect starting point to approach the thinking and attitude towards the world of one of the leading intellectuals in the Mediterranean.

Né à Sant'Agata di Militello (Sicile), face aux îles Éoliennes, il connaît donc très bien la Sicile, une île qui sent le sang et le jasmin, comme on peut le lire dans l'un de ses textes. Parmi ses livres, on trouve des romans à tonalité historico-métaphorique comme "Il sorriso dell'ignoto marinaio" (1956), "Retablo" (1987), "Nottetempo, casa per casa" (1992) ou "Lo spasimo di Palermo" (1998) ; des récits de quasi-recueil comme "Le pietre di Pantalica" (1988) et "L'olivo e l'olivastro" (1994) ; et des pièces de théâtre comme "Lunaria" (1985) et "Catarsi" (1989).
