The Foundation
At Fundación Tres Culturas Promoting dialogue, peace and coexistence between peoples and cultures of the Mediterranean.
Our history
The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation is a Spanish-Moroccan institution with a long history in the field of cultural diplomacy, the promotion of knowledge and mutual understanding.
Created on 8 March 1999 at the request of the Andalusian government and the Kingdom of Morocco, it is based in Seville, although its sphere of action covers the whole of Andalusia and Morocco.
Our site
Our headquarters are located on the Isla de la Cartuja, in what was the Moroccan Pavilion during the 1992 Universal Exhibition in Seville.
This building, designed by Michel Pinseau (creator of such outstanding buildings as the Casablanca Mosque), is an elaborate example of Moroccan architecture and craftsmanship,
Reference in tolerance and progress
There are few foundations in the world with such a representative and balanced multi-national presence among its members, with such a particular link to the Mediterranean area and with such a vocation of openness towards the countries bordering the Mediterranean.
Mission
Aware of the international context in which we find ourselves, as well as of the
The Three Cultures Foundation is convinced that knowledge is the best instrument for promoting a society that is more respectful of differences, plural, tolerant, supportive and just.
Our day by day
We project
It all starts with an idea. Our expert managers design events such as congresses, film cycles, business meetings, literary festivals or sports tournaments that fit in with the Foundation's mission.
We connect
The next step is to select the protagonists and participants for such an activity, to look for the most suitable profiles across the Mediterranean, both those that differ and those that complement each other.
We grow
With each and every one of these proposals, our community is growing and the so-called 'Three Cultures spirit' is spreading among those who share the projects and experiences we develop.
Action cultural
All artistic manifestations have a place in the Foundation's programme. Our screening room is filled every Tuesday with the best films from the countries along the riverbanks, films that are far from the commercial circuits but are guaranteed to be of high quality. The concerts show the heterogeneity of our sphere of action: jazz, flamenco, Arab and Sephardic rhythms, rock and others merge on the same stage.
Book launches, reading clubs and literary festivals promote works with a Mediterranean stamp, while exhibitions showcase everything from painting and photography to the latest urban art.
All of this with a very special focus on the preferences and needs of the younger audience, with specific programmes to make them our main voice.

Action formative
Fundación Tres Culturas is a large classroom where teachings from all periods coexist. The lecture series Cátedra al-Ándalus unravels the many aspects related to the Andalusian period, while in the language classes students learn Arabic and modern Hebrew, or the Moroccan dialectal variety (Dariya) in online courses.
The Arab World module of the Master's in International Relations trains tomorrow's diplomats, and in the professional training projects we open up avenues for the future for young people in vulnerable situations.

Inter-religious dialogue
The Three Cultures Foundation promotes numerous initiatives aimed at creating spaces for people of different origins, traditions and religious confessions to meet. In this sense, every year we celebrate the different Christian, Muslim and Jewish festivities, events in which representatives of all faiths come together.
We are also present at important events such as those organised by the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace to commemorate the signing of the Document of Human Fraternity.
This is a field in which we continue to open up new avenues, collaborating with expert entities in the field such as Scholas Recurrentes, as well as presenting innovative initiatives such as the meeting 'The Soul of Cultures' in the Moroccan city of Essaouira.
International Projects
International cooperation has always been one of the hallmarks of the Fundación Tres Culturas, a characteristic that has been accentuated since 2011 with the launch of several cross-border cooperation programmes sponsored by the European Union.
The first were MENARA (Observatory for Migration and the Promotion of Intercultural Dialogue), MERE (Women Entrepreneurs of the Strait Regions) and LET'S CREATE (Artistic Creation between Andalusia and Morocco with Social Objectives), all three within the Spain - External Borders Cross-border Cooperation Programme (POCTEFEX).
These projects were followed by other projects such as the two editions of the CUDEMA (Culture and Development in Morocco), HOME (Hands-on for mobility and employment. Euromediterranean Youth Exchange), PLUS (Politicians Listening to Us), CARPET (Craft, Art and People Together), INTREPIDA (Internationalisation of Spanish and Portuguese Businesswomen towards Insertion, Development and Partnerships), INTREPIDA+ y HALAL MARKET.
Action social
Integrarte
Programme aimed at seasonal women travelling from Morocco and Andalusia for the red fruit campaign.
Around a thousand women benefit from this programme which includes Spanish courses and workshops and accompaniment for their life in our community.
At family
Classes for Moroccan residents in Seville and Huelva with two modalities: classic Arabic for Spanish children and their mothers.
In this way, a double objective is achieved, facilitating the better integration of these women and maintaining the link between their children and their rich cultural heritage.
