During the month of September, the European Days of Jewish Culture are held in more than 30 countries, with the aim of raising awareness of the cultural and historical heritage of the Jewish people. It is a joint initiative of the European Association for the Preservation and Promotion of Jewish Culture (AEPJ), the European Council of Jewish Communities, B'nai B'rith Europe and the Network of Spanish Jewish Quarters.
The enhancement of the value of the Jewish legacy in its cultural and historical dimension is one of the objectives that we at Fundación Tres Culturas consider essential.
To this end, we offer a programme that includes a film series dedicated to the Sephardic heritage in Spain and Portugal, given the importance of the cultural contribution that the mark of Sepharad has impregnated in the identity and physiognomy of the Iberian Peninsula.

Between mid-1944 and early 1945 and in the midst of World War II, Budapest, and especially its population, was punished by continuous bombing by the Allied army. At the same time, the Jews experienced their cruelest moment with their systematic extermination.
The Spanish diplomat Ángel Sanz Briz, head of the Spanish legation in Budapest, was an exceptional witness to these atrocities. A great connoisseur of Spanish and Hungarian law, he skilfully drew up an astute plan of salvation and aid aimed at Jews of Sephardic descent, which was later extended to Ashkenazi Jews. A plan that very few diplomats have been able to match.
