The Fundación Tres Culturas is taking part in the Culinary Diplomacy Festival, to be held in Maspalomas (Canary Islands) from 11 to 14 February. Under the title Culinary MoroccoFor four days, this first edition of the festival celebrates the art of Moroccan cuisine, folklore and craftsmanship in the town of San Bartolomé de Tirajana. Attendees will be able to enjoy various exhibitions and tastings, exhibitions of painting, photography and traditional costumes, dances and musical performances, etc. with Moroccan gastronomy as the main theme.
Tres Culturas is collaborating in this festival with a concert by the Hamid Ajbar Ensemble on Saturday 11 February. Hamid Ajbar Ensemble is a group made up of Moroccan musicians based in Spain who have an important career both individually and collaborating in different groups of various musical styles.
Its members have enriched their artistic career with collaborations and recordings in different groups and have participated in numerous international festivals. Hamid Ajbar is a specialist in Andalusian music as a virtuoso violinist and vocal soloist, and has a long professional experience in festivals in Morocco and Europe. Mouhssine Kouraichi began playing lute and violin to discover classical percussion techniques under the guidance of master Chekara. Khalid Ahaboune specialises in Arabic percussion: riqq, bendir and derbuka, to perfect his technique in Egypt with Said El Artist, collaborating with great artists. Fathi Ben Yakoub is a specialist in classical Arabic violin. Among other ensembles, he has been a member of the Youth Orchestra of the Conservatory of Classical and Arabic Music of Tetouan, with which he has given recitals at national and international festivals.
