For the Fundación Tres Culturas del Mediterráneo, organiser of WOCMES Seville 2018, culture is one of the fundamental vehicles of social transformation. Opening a window on cultural innovation in the Middle East and North Africa, as well as on our contemporary and Mediterranean cultural heritage, is not only an essential objective for the cultural programme of this international congress, but also a commitment to all citizens.
The exhibition proposal will be articulated around two exhibitions in the Avenida de la Constitución and in the Rectorate of the University of Seville, the Congress venue.
Along the Avenida de la Constitución, viewers will be able to immerse themselves in the concept of Mediterranean identity through the photographic exhibition organised in collaboration with the Kamel Lazaar Foundation. Simultaneously, at the Rectorate of the University of Seville, the cultural proposal will be centred on the exhibition The Mediterranean in the 20th century. Realities and viewsorganised in collaboration with the European Institute of the Mediterranean IEMed, to recall that the Mediterranean has become the most pronounced border in the world, but at the same time the meeting place between East and West.
To stop and reflect for a moment on the concept of frontier will be an exercise that, from the cultural proposal of Wocmes Seville 2018 and through the performance The Absence of PathsThe "KLFoundation", in cooperation with the KLFoundation, will be offered to all participants and visitors to the congress at the Rectorate of the University.
From the second half of the week of the Wocmes Congress, music will flood the headquarters of the Fundación Tres Culturas del Mediterráneo with different concerts by Moroccan bands, who will take to the Tres Culturas stages to offer the most up-to-date sounds of the Moroccan music scene.
