Carvalho: identity problems, published by Planeta, is a novel in which Carlos Zanón, without betraying himself or Vázquez Montalbán's detective, creates a new commissioner Carvalho.
The action is set in 2007 and the tectonic plates of society seem to move in an unprecedented way. The detective is torn between Barcelona and Madrid. Perhaps he is getting old or he is beset by identity problems at all levels. The usual problems, the disappearance of a prostitute or an old friend who comes to his aid for a bloody family crime. On a personal level, his complicity with Biscúter is at a low ebb and his state of health is not at its best.
All these ingredients are the ones that give shape to the long-awaited instalment of the character created by the late Manuel Vázquez Montalván.
This book will be presented by the author himself on tuesday 12 february. He will be accompanied by Jesús Lens, director of the Granada Noir festival.
