Details

  • Start: 25 January 2018
  • End: 26 January 2018

The Al Andalus Chair lecture series begins this year with a talk on natural lighting in the Mudejar churches of Seville. The talk will highlight the current state of natural lighting in the Mudejar churches of Seville, based on a historical analysis of its use as an element of paramount importance.

Mudejar Art is a style that is testimony to the cultural coexistence between the West and the East, which is nourished by the Christian and Muslim artistic currents of the time. In Seville, both for its numerical importance and for the quality and uniqueness of its architecture, the Mudejar Churches known as the Sevillian parish type of Mudejar Gothic architecture, constitute a typology in which natural light is a determining factor in its original conception.

Lecture given by Honorio Aguilar García, PhD in Architecture from the University of Seville, with the qualification of outstanding cum laude. January 2016.
