Despite the fact that the three book religions whether monotheistic or not, in the Mediterranean they acquire particular characteristics in which transcendent figures stand out as intermediaries with the divinity and also ceremonial figures through which the spaces and times that make intermediation possible are produced.
They share many common notes in each of the three beliefs and, in the case of Spain and particularly Andalusia, the similarities sometimes reach a striking resemblance, produced by mutual influences.
Saints, shrines, brotherhoods, festivals and pilgrimages in the Maghreb form a geography of events that fill the year with an astonishing variety of liturgies and rites connected to the personality of the places where they take place. Many of them, as well as their protagonists, have their roots in the centuries of al-Andalus.
The session will be given by Antonio Zoido, who holds a degree in Philosophy from the Gregorian University of Rome and the Complutense University of Madrid. He is also president of the Machado Foundation, member of the board of trustees of the FACUA Foundation and director of the magazine Razones de Utopía.
