The session of the Al-Andalus Chair on 26 June, which will take place in the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Seville, has been programmed as a tribute to Professor Francisco Márquez Villanueva, who has just passed away one year ago.

Homage to Francisco Márquez VillanuevaThis publication is the result of more than twenty works developed by renowned specialists, both national and international, on the figure and times of Alfonso X, some of whom have participated in our Al-Andalus Chair. All this under the coordination of Emilio González Ferrín, scientific director of the Chair.
With this work, the Fundación Tres Culturas aims to analyse and delve deeper into the figure and times of Alfonso X and to offer a complete panorama of the crossroads of cultures that the Iberian 12th century represented, which is generally seen as a battleground for war, but which set an unequalled precedent for modern complex societies in terms of interculturality and interpersonality, especially in Europe.
The book Crossroads of Cultures: Alfonso X and his Time on the Frontier It overcomes the history of war and decides to reap the cultural fruits of an exemplary century in terms of civilising plurality.
