As every year, we join in the celebration of Library Day on 24 October with many activities coordinated through our wonderful Fatima Mernissi Library.
On this occasion, the Ministry of Culture and Sport has chosen the slogan 'Weaving communities' to highlight the important role played by libraries as an instrument for improving human coexistence through literature.
The Fatima Mernissi Library, specialising in Mediterranean literature, has created a programme of activities for the week of 23-29 October, which includes actions such as giving away our own publications to those who visit us or raffling off some books through our social networks.
On Tuesday 24th (date chosen in memory of the Sarajevo Library, burnt down on the same day in 1992) we will open our library from 7pm to 8.30pm, in addition to our usual opening hours every morning (from 9.30am to 1.30pm). If you visit us, you will be able to taste a very special bread, made by the bakery La Esencia to celebrate this day. We have also prepared a gift for users who leave us a message written on a piece of cloth. The idea is to unite these messages to weave a mat that represents the feelings of our users as part of the Foundation's community.
