With the aim of addressing the major debates of the current Mediterranean area, we are organising this cycle to reveal the multiple and complex field of cinema in relation to the media and in particular documentary film. In addition, we intend to draw attention to the different and current subjects covered.
We believe it is important to promote a reflection on the different processes that emanate from our environment and that deserve to be recounted and filmed in order to be understood, to create an opinion, to appeal to consciences and to place us in new realities.
The cycle includes topics such as the relations of neighbourhoods, the situation of women in different countries, citizens' movements, the Arab Spring, immigration and the history of Casablanca.
The screenings will take place at the Centre d'Art Contemporain de Malaga (C/Alemania, S/N, 29001 Malaga) at 20:00h, free entrance depending on the capacity of the audience.
EVERY REBELLION. Mercredi 15 juin.
Arash T. Riahi, Arman T. Riahi, Iran, Austri, Suisse, 2013, 104 min.
What do they have in common, the Occupy Wall Street movement and the indignants in Spain or the Arab Spring? Is there a connection between the struggle of the Iranian movement for democracy and the Syrian uprising? What is the link between Fernen's topless Ukrainian activists and an Islamic culture such as Egypt? And above all, what do Serbia and Turkey have to do with each other?
The reasons for their protests are different, but the non-violent tactics they use in their struggles are closely connected. This is also the case of activists who share strategies, new ideas and methods. Everyday Rebellion is a story about the richness of peaceful demonstrations, represented by passionate people every day in Spain, Iran, Syria, Ukraine, the United States, the United Kingdom and Serbia.
