The Fundación Tres Culturas del Mediterráneo, with the collaboration of the Polo Nacional de Contenidos Digitales and Málaga City Council, presents the first edition of COMICMED, an unprecedented meeting that will address the world of graphic novels and comics produced in or linked to the Mediterranean, which will take place from 6 to 8 March at the Polo's facilities in Tabacalera.
The programme of this meeting, which is full of important creators of the genre, combines conversations with authors, three practical workshops (for different age groups: adults, teenagers and children) and an innovative proposal that fuses comics with electronic music with Moroccan airs to the rhythm of DJ Hajar Lagranja. This is a diverse and heterogeneous proposal in which there will be a lot of talk about comics, but also about new creative techniques, digital universes and fusion with other arts. This initiative has also involved other entities and institutions such as the Centro Andaluz de las Letras, the Telefónica Foundation, the French Institute and the publishing houses Maeva, Edelvives, Norma Editorial, Apa Apa Cómics and Penguin Random House.
Access to all the proposals of this festival will be free of charge after registration through the Eventbrite platform. Those interested will also be able to purchase copies at the sales point that will be set up by the Cómic Stores shop at the festival itself.
Image: The poster for this first edition was created by Nadia Hafid (Tarrassa, 1990), an illustrator of Moroccan descent whose work has been featured several times on the front page of 'El País', as well as appearing in articles in international media such as 'The New York Times', 'The Economist', 'The New Yorker' and 'The Washington Post', among others.
