The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation is organising a concert of Moroccan Andalusian music by Fahd Ben Kiran Ensemble, part of the ‘Jaouk Tetuán’ Orchestra’, under the direction of lutenist Fahd Ben Kiran. Founded in 2012, the orchestra brings together a selection of experienced musicians passionate about this heritage, from Tetouan and its region.
Your proposal combines the tradition of Moroccan Andalusian music with an innovative approach to interpretation, creating an elegant and current sound that connects past and present.
Born in the city of Tetouan in 1984, Fahd Ben Kiran comes from an ancient Andalusian artistic family committed to the Preservation of Andalusi cultural heritage In general, and of Moroccan Andalusian music in particular. He trained at the Tetouan Institute of Music and, in parallel, at the Harrakia Zaouia in the same city, considered his great school and his main centre of inspiration. According to critics and specialists, Fahd Ben Kiran is today one of the best Andalusian lutenists from Morocco and one of the most brilliant performers of his generation.
