  • Date: 28 September 2023
  • Time:
    12:00 - 13:00

The university professor and novelist María Dueñas, author of the acclaimed work The Time In Between - whose action is partly set in the city that is the subject of the course - will offer a meeting to discuss ‘The Ensanche of Tetouan in two novels and a television series’.

On Thursday 28th September at 12:00, María Dueñas will offer an approach from a cultural perspective, in this case from narrative, to the Moroccan city whose medina has been a World Heritage Site since 1997, and which aspires for the Ensanche, a magnificent example of urbanism (with regionalist, historicist, and even modernist contributions from renowned architects) to be included in that heritage declaration.

This meeting is part of the course ‘The Spanish Ensanche of Tetouan: common heritage, heritage of humanity’, organised by the International University of Andalusia in collaboration with the Tres Culturas del Mediterráneo Foundation, the Andalusian Institute of Historical Heritage and the University of Seville.  Directed by María Dolores López Enamorado, a senior lecturer in the Area of Arabic and Islamic Studies at the University of Seville and delegate for relations with Africa and Arab Countries, the course features prestigious national and international specialists among its speakers.
