French journalist and writer Kenizé Mourad presents her latest novel 'In the land of cigars'.
The Fundación Tres Culturas and the publishing house Msur libros, with the collaboration of Casa Mediterráneo, are organising a unique meeting with the French journalist and writer Kenizé Mourad, author of such landmark works as From the dead princess o The Badalpur gardenThe book combines personal memory, history and political analysis with a great narrative sensibility.
On this occasion, Mourad will present his latest novel translated into Spanish, In the land of cigars (MSur Libros, 2025), in conversation with journalist and writer Ilya U. Topper. The book, set in Pakistan, bravely exposes the tensions between tradition, religion and power, and offers a profound reflection on the role of women in contexts dominated by extremism.
Throughout her career, Kenizé Mourad has worked as a journalist in media outlets such as Le Nouvel Observateur, covering conflicts in the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent. Her work, both literary and journalistic, has made her an indispensable voice on issues of intercultural dialogue, human rights and geopolitics in the Arab and Asian world.
