The Fundación Tres Culturas del Mediterráneo, the Institut français de España and Literatura Random House, with the collaboration of the Centro Andaluz de las Letras, present 'Brújula' (Literatura Random House) by the renowned French author, Mathias Enard (to find out more about the author click here), for which he won the prestigious Goncourt Prize in 2015. Emilio González Ferrín, Arabist and professor of Arab and Islamic Thought at the University of Seville, will be on hand to talk to Enard. The event will take place on 5 October at 19:30 at the Foundation's headquarters.

Mathias Enard (Niort, France, 1972). After studying Arabic and Persian and spending long periods in the Middle East, he settled in Barcelona in 2000. A member of the editorial board of the magazine 'Inculte' in Paris, in 2005 he was elected writer-in-residence at the prestigious Villa Medici in Rome. He has taught Arabic at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Enard is the author of the novels 'La perfección del Tiro' (Reverso, 2004), 'Remontando el Orinoco' (La Otra Orilla, 2006), 'El manual del perfecto terrorista' (La Otra Orilla, 2007), 'Zona' (La Otra Orilla, 2008), 'Habladles de batallas, de reyes y elefantes' (Literatura Random House, 2011), 'El alcohol y la nostalgia' (Literatura Random House, 2012) and 'Calle de los Ladrones' (Street of Thieves). (Random House Literature', 2013). He has won several prizes, including the Prix de la Francophonie 2004, the Prix Décembre, the Prix du Livre Inter, the Prix Goncourt des Étudiants in 2010 and the Prix Goncourt 2015 for 'Compass', his latest novel.
Emilio González Ferrín (Ciudad Real, 1965). An Arabist and Islamologist, he combines his university classes with an essay production that has earned him, among others, the Jovellanos international essay prize. He has been scientific director of the Al-Andalus Chair of the Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation since its inception and in 2012 he published his first novel belonging to the 'Cairo Trilogy' through which he proposes a particular Euro-Arab dialogue.
