The Fundación Tres Culturas organises the presentation of the travel book Listen to Iran by Patricia Almarcegui, on Tuesday 7 March at 19.00 hours. Photographer Manolo Espaliú will be in conversation with the author.

The writer Patricia Almarcegui presents her first travel book, in which she narrates her journey through Iran in 2005, recorded in two diaries. At Listen to Iranpublished by the Newcastle Foundation, the author captures with all its contrasts and nuances the plural, kaleidoscopic and exciting universe shown to her by the inhabitants of this country, avoiding all the clichés.

The photographer Manolo Espaliú, who is currently working on the figure of García de Silva y Figueroa and the journey he made through Persia as Philip III's ambassador to Shah Abbas, will talk to Patricia Almarcegui about this country they are in love with while images he has taken over the last ten years are projected.

After the talk, at 8.30 p.m. and as part of the Tuesday Film Series, there will be will screen the film Nahid by director Ida Panahandeh (Iran, 2015, 106 min.).

With these two activities Tres Culturas celebrates International Women's Day.

About the author:

Patricia Almarcegui (Zaragoza, 1969) is a writer and professor of Comparative Literature. In 2013, she won the 2nd Fray Luis de León Essay Award for The meaning of the journey and his novel The painter and the traveller (Ediciones B, 2011) was chosen as one of the ten treasures of the Madrid Book Fair. In 2014, he resided in Shiraz and made the project: The murmur of Hafez's tomb. He has published in ChimeraJot DownRevista de Occidente  and is a regular contributor to eldiario.esLa Vanguardia  and the supplement ABC Cultural.
