In 1995, the Euro-Mediterranean Conference of Foreign Ministers in Barcelona launched an ambitious cooperation programme between the countries of the European Union and the southern and eastern Mediterranean shores, in order to create an area of stability and peace, shared progress and dialogue between peoples and cultures.
Twenty-five years after this initiative, the Foundation of Three Cultures wishes to assess the problem in order to determine when more persistent action is required, when favourable progress is being made, and when examples of good practice can be obtained.
Based on debates held during five round tables on issues relating to migration, women's empowerment, the labour market and youth, education and research, and sustainable development, the aim will be to contribute to the Mediterranean becoming a space of stability, progress and fruitful dialogue.
This activity, subsidised by the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Spanish Government, is part of various activities undertaken for the study, analysis and implementation of Spanish foreign policy priorities.
Discussion tables will be developed throughout the months of December 2019 to March 2020.
