From 24 to 26 September 2025, the University of Seville will host a new edition of the Meetings of the Network of Heritage Researchers of Latin America and the Mediterranean.
It is a international academic forum which will bring together experts from Spain, Italy, Portugal, Morocco, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Peru and Argentina, to reflect on the cross-cutting challenges of public management in the restoration, conservation, legislation and socio-economic valorisation of cultural heritage.
The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation participates as a collaborating entity, thus reaffirming its commitment to shared knowledge and academic cooperation as a key instrument for the promotion of intercultural dialogue.
In this respect, we would especially like to highlight the presence of two prestigious Moroccan speakers whose participation strengthens the link between Andalusia and Morocco in the academic and heritage fields. They are Dr. Mrabih Rabou Shaibatamember of the Academic Research team on Heritage and Development at the Mohamed V University of Rabat, who will speak on the protection of Hassani Heritage; and of the Dr. Hamid AboulasVice-Dean for Scientific Research and Cooperation at the Faculty of Law of Tangier and Professor of Public Law at the Faculty of Law of Tetouan at the Abdelmalek Essaâdi University, who will address the legal model of heritage protection in the city of Tetouan.
Both interventions highlight the importance of integrating different perspectives in order to understand the common challenges facing our societies in terms of cultural preservation and enhancement. Morocco and Andalusia share a unique historical and heritage legacy, whose protection and projection into the future is not only a responsibility, but also an opportunity for international cooperation.
