Inauguration 6 April - 20:00 hours
Developed on the basis of the reading of the play The virtues of the lonely bird by Juan Goytisolo (Cervantes Prize 2014), this dual exhibition, comprising 40 works by the artists Hassan Bourkia and Santiago Arranz (Moroccan and Spanish, respectively), is an initiative of Mohamed Habib Samrakandi, director of the cultural journal Horizons Magrhébinson the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the publication.
The invitation to two artists from both shores of the Mediterranean to reflect together on Goytisolo's work is a dialogue between cultures, and brings together the Christian mysticism of St John of the Cross with the Sufi poetry of Ibn Arabi.
Presented in April 2015 in Marrakech, Riad Dar Cherifa, with the support of the Cervantes Institute and the Spanish Embassy in Morocco, in the presence of Juan Goytisolo, and after having also been exhibited at the CIAM (Centre d' Initiatives Artistiques du Mirail) of the University of Toulouse (France), this exhibition was presented for the first time in Spain as part of the 'Tres Festival, voces del Mediterráneo' organised by the Fundación Tres Culturas del Mediterráneo in the city of Granada last spring 2016.
The exhibition now returns to the headquarters of the Fundación Tres Culturas to recreate the dialogue, contact and reflection between these two artists from Spain and Morocco, neighbouring and Mediterranean countries.
