The Fundación Tres Culturas is collaborating for the second year in the Granada Early Music Festival, a multidisciplinary cultural event which this year is dedicated to the great trade and exploration routes of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, under the title 'Musafir: Travellers of the Ancient World'.
The Early Music Festival brings together the artistic and musical heritage of the city and province of Granada, thus recovering the legacy that for so many centuries was developed in these lands.
For ten days, established and new groups share their music, with conferences, meetings, workshops and exhibitions on various subjects related to medieval, renaissance and baroque music.
This year the project follows in the footsteps of travellers with a curious and observant spirit, such as Ibn Battuta, Zhèng Hé, Benjamín de Tudela, Marco Polo or Juan Sebastián Elcano (who travelled to exotic regions of an expanding world), to investigate the music they must have encountered during their journeys, in a wide geographical and temporal range that spans from the late Middle Ages to the Renaissance, from Al-Andalus to China, from the Far East to East Africa.
