In its 2019 edition, the presence of the Fundación Tres Culturas at the Seville Book Fair will include the presentation of two works: University for murderers (Tusquets), the latest novel by the Greek writer Petros Márkaris, and Democracy is a tram: Erdogan's rise and Turkey's transformationthe first joint essay by journalists Andrés Mourenza and Ilya U. Topper.
University for Murderers (Tusquets) is the latest instalment in the saga of Kostas Jaritos, the commissioner created by Petros Márkaris, a leading exponent of the Mediterranean crime novel. Márkaris once again highlights the problems facing Greek society. There is no one like him to solve, hand in hand with Jaritos, a crime related to the academic world and politics, an X-ray of the current situation in the country.

On the other hand, Tres Culturas is collaborating in the presentation of Democracy is a tram: Erdogan's rise and Turkey's transformation (Península) by journalists Andrés Mourenza and Ilya U. Topper, two journalists who have been covering Turkish current affairs for a decade for various Spanish media. In their essay, they trace Erdogan's biography from his origins in a poor neighbourhood in Istanbul to the pinnacle of power, while explaining the ups and downs of Turkish society: coups d'état, the expansion of Islamism, European alliances, geopolitical aspirations... A profile of a man made for power and of the country that loves and hates him in equal parts.

Both events will be hosted by Alejandro Luque.
