Tribute in Tangiers to Antonio Lozano

The Fundación Tres Culturas del Mediterráneo, the Instituto Cervantes of Tangier and the cultural and artistic space Riad Sultan pay tribute to the author Antonio Lozano in the framework of the 25th anniversary of the Foundation. The event will take place on Saturday 27 April 2024 at the Riad Sultan cultural and artistic space in Tangier (Morocco) at 7.30 pm.

Antonio Lozano (Tangiers 1956-Las Palmas 2019) was a writer, playwright and unconditional lover of his homeland. His work is the best reflection of the open spirit of someone with a heart divided between two shores. From his other beloved city (Agüimes, Gran Canaria), he dedicated his life to culture, the abolition of prejudice and the meeting of people and peoples, whatever their origins. A man who always showed his love for African culture and actively contributed to its knowledge and dissemination. Thus, his hometown will host a tribute in which multicultural affinities prevail over any idea of difference.

The event will be divided into two parts. In the first, we will have a conversation in which we will have the presence of Malika Embarek LópezSpanish-Moroccan literary translator, and Waleed Saleh AlkhalifaThe second part will be moderated by Olga Cuadrado, Iraqi researcher specialising in the teaching of Arabic language and literature, as well as Olga Cuadrado, head of the Fatima Mernissi Library at the Fundación Tres Culturas, and Randa Jebrouni, translator and Hispanist. In the second part, there will be a dramatised reading of Antonio Lozano's works: My name is Suleimanby Junior Noubissi, musician and comedian, and A long sleep in Tangierby Salima Abdel-Wahab, fashion designer.

The event will be accompanied by the piano of Yassine Abdel-Wahab.

Antonio's time, dedication and love for culture will always remain in the memory of our Foundation.
