The Fundación Tres Culturas culminates the tribute to the figure of Albert Camus on the 60th anniversary of the awarding of the Nobel Prize for Literature that began last April with the presentation of the graphic novel 'Camus. Entre justicia y madre' (Norma Editorial), the conference 'Camus y el compromiso' by the French-Algerian writer Yahia Belaskri on 12 December at the Tres Culturas headquarters and the following day in Granada. Anne Aubry, expert in French literature, Department of Philology and Translation, Pablo de Olavide University (UPO), will be the presenter.
Czeslaw Milosz, Polish poet and novelist, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature (1980) said of Camus that ".had the courage to say elementary things". Belaskri will go into this aspect in depth, as well as Camus's ability to be indignant and take a stand, whether on Algeria and its ruptures or on Spain, Nazi Germany or European construction, far from surrendering to the fascination of history like many French intellectuals.
This tribute to Albert Camus is part of the 'France in Three Cultures Week' and the programme to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Fatima Mernissi Library.
Simultaneous translation from French into Spanish will be provided.
