Details

  • Date: 22 November 2019
  • Time:
    09:00 - 14:00

The reality of Unaccompanied Migrant Minors is a migratory phenomenon that has a great impact on both sending and receiving countries, as well as on the lives of this group of people, who are also living a very delicate moment in their lives, thus becoming a very vulnerable group. The MENA phenomenon has a long history in Europe of almost 20 years, but this reality has multiplied exponentially, saturating child protection resources and causing a great deal of press coverage.

Andalusia, as a border region with the African continent, is one of the areas in Europe where this reality has the greatest impact, making it the place in Spain where most migrant minors are taken in.

With the intention of deepening and giving continuity to the report of conclusions drawn up in the first workshop that took place in November 2018, this second meeting is held to bring together a group of researchers, experts and professionals who can contribute a different, close and constructive perspective for the improvement of a transnational and trans-regional asylum system.

The scientific coordination of the meeting is the responsibility of José Carlos Cabrera Medina.

José Carlos Cabrera Medina is an Arabist and has been an intercultural mediator in a child protection centre for more than 18 years. He has a long track record of training for protection services throughout the country, as well as the publication of five books on the subject, and numerous scientific and press articles on the subject.

Due to the nature of the event, access to the general public is not permitted.
