A panel of urban planners, activists and journalists will analyse the current prospects for coexistence in Israel and Palestine with Jerusalem as an example of a contested city. Voices from both countries and Spain will discuss how local policies and international decisions (such as Trump's declaration of Jerusalem as the Israeli capital) compromise the peace-building agenda in the area.
The event will be organised in three parts:
- Perspectives from the right to the city: local policies for shaping Jerusalem.
- Critical Narratives from Middle Eastern Journalism.
- Thinking about a different reality for Israelis and Palestinians in the city. Screening of short films by Ir Amim and discussion.
The meeting will present the photographic exhibition Dignity in adversity: refuge, disability and solidarity between the Jordanian and Syrian populationswhich reflects the human dimension of the crisis of disabled Syrian refugees from the Irhaba community in Jordan.
